October Bible Reading Plan
Welcome to the month of October!
Are you looking for peace?
This month, we are going to dive deep and explore practicing the peace of God. Through God’s peace, we can protect our hearts and minds from worry, stress, and anxiety in the midst of any trial. So, how do we experience this peace?

Let me encourage you (and myself) that regardless of how our situation looks, God always makes a way and that His ways always work for our good (Romans 8:28). When He starts a good work, He always completes it (Philippians 1:6).
So, hold on, keep your eyes on Jesus, and rest in the peace of God, while He works in your situation.
The peace that Jesus offers is a perfect peace. “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you” (Is. 26:3).
No matter how many trials, test, of pitfalls in life, there is this amazing thing God promised, and provided for us: His peace.
Regardless of our circumstances, I believe we can experience God’s peace that surpasses all understanding. Not only does it provide a sense of stability, but there is a guarding of our hearts and minds that take place in Jesus. Just like Paul wrote to the Philippians during his biggest trial, we, too, can grab hold of this peace and embrace it for ourselves and every part of life.
Nowadays it seems easy to become overwhelmed and lose our peace. We only have to turn on the TV or pick up a newspaper to begin wondering what bad thing will happen next. However, in His Word, God promises us peace no matter what is happening on our jobs, in our homes, or in the world. People look for peace in many ways, but lasting peace comes only through Jesus Christ. To embrace God’s peace:
- Keep our minds focused on the Giver of Peace
- Never doubt the promises of God
- Quit worrying, once and for all.
God has a job for you to accomplish, and He has promised to give you the strength and ability to successfully complete every task. The work may seem overwhelming, but you can trust that God is at work to provide everything you need to do your work. You may feel like you are failing miserably where the Lord has placed you, but the God of Peace sees your obedience and has committed to fully equip you.
This reading plan is designed to help you cultivate that peace daily. Through meditating on God’s Word, reflecting on His promises, and practicing spiritual rhythms of rest, trust, and surrender, you will discover how peace can become a way of life.
Whether you are navigating personal storms or simply longing for deeper intimacy with God, this journey will remind you that peace is not a distant ideal—it is a divine gift, available now. Let us walk together into the stillness, and let God’s peace shape our hearts, homes, and habits.
“So, how can you practice the peace of God in your own life? Let’s delve into the truths of Scripture that will guide you on a transformative journey toward experiencing true, lasting peace.”
“For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations.” Ephesians 2:14-15.
Why Peace Is So Important
Jesus’ sacrifice went right to the root of the problem (our sin) and resolved it once and for all. His sacrifice was the only way to bridge the gap between us and God, bringing us eternal life. Because He took our punishment upon Himself, He gives us peace with God.
Peace is not a luxury, it is a necessity for spiritual, emotional, and relational health. Without peace, our hearts become restless, our thoughts scattered, and our relationships strained. But when we live from a place of peace, we reflect the character of Christ and create space for His love to flow freely through us.
God’s peace is foundational to our faith. It allows us to trust Him even when circumstances are unclear. It quiets fear, calms anxiety, and strengthens our ability to respond with grace rather than react in haste.
In John 14:27, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you.” This is not a fragile peace dependent on worldly stability—it is a divine peace rooted in His presence.
Peace also empowers us to be peacemakers. In a divided world, those who carry God’s peace become bridges of reconciliation and healing. We are called to pursue peace, not just for ourselves, but for the sake of others.
Romans 12:18 reminds us, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” This kind of peace requires humility, forgiveness, and a heart anchored in God’s truth.
Practicing peace is a spiritual discipline. It involves choosing stillness over striving, prayer over panic, and trust over turmoil. It is a daily decision to let Christ rule in our hearts and to allow His peace to guide our steps.
As we grow in this practice, we become more resilient, more compassionate, and more attuned to the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit. Peace is not just important—it is powerful, and it is ours in Christ.

What Is the Peace of God?
The Bible is clear: peace is a gift from God, given to His children. In John 14:27, Jesus promises, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” This peace is uniquely divine and can only come from God, aligning perfectly with His character.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Paul writes, “May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.” Here, we see that peace is not just something God provides but a reflection of who He is—the God of peace. Similarly, Hebrews 13:20 refers to God as the One who equips us with everything good for doing His will, connecting His peace with His provision and faithfulness.
The peace of God is more than a soothing state of mind; it is an assurance rooted in His unchanging love and grace. It reminds us that no matter what we face, God’s presence remains steadfast. This peace is an unmerited gift, freely given to those who trust Him.
In Philippians 4:6–7, Paul encourages believers, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Throughout Scripture, we see examples of people who trusted God even in the face of trials. Job, for instance, endured tremendous loss yet declared, “Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him” (Job 13:15). Paul, despite facing imprisonment and persecution, found peace in knowing that God’s grace was sufficient for him (2 Corinthians 12:9).
David was an incredible example of a child of God filled with the faith and powerful work of God. David was constantly in need of God’s help. From stepping up to slay Goliath in faith to escaping pursuers, he exemplified what it was to live constantly in the power of faith.
He knew of the power of God when he asked for God’s help. So great was his faith in God’s ability and desire to come to his aid that he found rest and security in the face of thousands of enemies.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
Reflection Questions
- What does God’s peace mean to you personally?
- In what areas of your life do you most need His peace right now?
- How can you intentionally practice peace in your daily routines?
- What Scripture has helped you experience peace during difficult times?
The Bible says we can have God’s peace. This is one of the most wonderful aspects of being a follower of Jesus. We can experience in this life increasing measures of the life of God.
Peace is a major aspect of this abundant life Jesus so often spoke of. Romans 14:17, NASB95 tells us, “God’s kingdom is not meat and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives, do I give to you.” (John 14:27, ESV).
God always has peace within Himself. Even though Jesus lived in an incredibly stressful environment with literally the weight of the world on His shoulders, He always had peace within Himself.
This is the peace that is available to all of us.
Peace with God is the only starting point for real peace within ourselves. The more people who have peace with God and peace in themselves, the more we can have peace in our world.
A Prayer for October
Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank You for your perfect peace in my life. I am grateful that You have positioned it to stand at the entrance of my heart and mind and that it dominates my mind and controls my life. Because of the peace that lives in me, rise up and consume me, and it will disable the devil’s ability to attack my emotions and will not permit his lies and accusations to slip into my mind! Thank You for loving me enough to put this powerful weapon of peace in my life! Teach me to practice peace, not just in quiet moments, but in the midst of everyday life. Help me to respond with grace, to speak with gentleness, and to walk with trust. Where anxiety tries to take root, plant Your truth. Where fear whispers lie, let Your love speak louder. Lord, make me a vessel of Your peace. Let my home be a sanctuary of calm, my words a balm of healing, and my actions a reflection of Your heart. May Your Spirit lead me beside still waters and restore my soul daily. I surrender my striving, my worries, and my need for control. I receive Your peace as a gift, and I choose to dwell in it. Thank You for being my refuge, my strength, and my constant companion. In Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
