March Bible Reading Plan

Happy March!

At the start of a new year, many of us set goals to draw closer to God, to read His Word more faithfully and to simply rest in His presence. Spending time with God isn’t just a spiritual habit; it is the foundation of the Christian life and our highest priority.

This month, we will be diving into Scripture as we explore the importance of spending time with God. Jesus is our perfect example. He spent time alone with God despite his very busy schedule. Though he was the Son of God and was indeed God, He did not joke with spending time alone with God. If Jesus could cultivate and sustain this discipline, nobody has any excuse not to do so.

What Happens When You Spend Time with God?

Spending time with God changes us in ways that others will notice. While not everyone will respond positively, we should never hide His light. Instead, let’s walk boldly in His presence, His peace, and His power.

Before the Israelites built the Tabernacle, the Lord’s presence communed with Moses in a “tent of meeting” because He wanted to speak with him “as [one] speaks to his friend” (Exodus 33:7, 11). This is astounding, but what’s even more incredible is that Moses’ face glowed after being near God’s glory (Exodus 34:29).

This scripture shows us a powerful truth: the more time we spend with God, the more we reflect His presence as in a mirror.

Spending time with God is the heartbeat of a growing spiritual life. It shapes your character, strengthens your faith, and aligns your heart with His will. It is in these quiet moments that God reveals direction, brings comfort, and reminds you of His unfailing love.

It is the intentional choice to pause, quiet your mind, and draw near to the One who gives strength, wisdom, and peace.

In a world filled with noise, pressure, and constant demands, time with God becomes a sacred refuge, a place where your soul is refreshed and your perspective is renewed. When you slow down long enough to sit with Him, you begin to hear His voice more clearly, understand His Word more deeply, and experience His presence more fully.

Whether through prayer, worship, journaling, or reading Scripture, every moment spent with God draws you closer to His heart and anchors your life in His truth. As you begin this Bible Study Reading Plan, open your heart to what God wants to show you. Let His Word guide you, His presence steady you, and His love transform you.

The key to unlocking every door that seems shut in your life, is spending time with God. Through the Holy Spirit, He is waiting to show you special insights into the problems that you face today. He wants to help you know and walk in perfect truth and strength. And, He wants to anoint your natural ability, so you can always be above and not beneath.

Spending time with God is about nurturing a relationship. Just as friendships grow through conversation and closeness, your relationship with God deepens when you consistently seek His presence.

When you sit with Him, read His Word, worship, or simply rest in silence, you are opening your heart to His peace and wisdom. Time with God realigns your perspective, calms your anxieties, and reminds you of who He is and who you are in Him. It is where burdens are lifted, clarity is found, and strength is renewed.

Whether you come to Him with joy, questions, or tears, God meets you with compassion and truth. Spending time with God is not about perfection — it is about connection. It is choosing to make room for the One who already made room for you.

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8

Mary spent time with Jesus. Mary and Martha both loved Jesus. On this occasion they both serving him, but they had different ways of showing their love. Are you so busy doing things, for Jesus that you are not spending any time with him?

Jesus said one thing was needed, and Mary had chosen that good part, which would not be taken away from her. But Martha was distracted with much serving (Luke 10:38-42).

Why Is It Important to Spend Time with God?

There are so many reasons why developing a habit of spending time with God in His Word and prayer each day are important! Here are just a few key reasons!

Spending time with God is essential because it anchors your life in His presence, His truth, and His strength. When you intentionally seek Him, you are choosing to build your life on a foundation that cannot be shaken.

Time with God deepens your faith, sharpens your discernment, and strengthens your spiritual resilience. It helps you recognize His voice above the noise of fear, doubt, and distraction.

When you spend time with God, you learn His heart — His compassion, His wisdom, His character, and His ways. This closeness shapes your decisions, your attitudes, and your responses to life’s challenges. It becomes easier to trust God when you know Him intimately. Time with Him also brings emotional and spiritual healing.

In His presence, you can release your worries, confess your struggles, and receive His peace. God uses these moments to refill what life has drained, to restore what has been broken, and to remind you that you are never alone. Spending time with God also strengthens your identity in knowing who you really are in Christ Jesus.

The more you sit with Him, the more you understand your worth, your purpose, and your calling. You begin to see yourself through His eyes — loved, chosen, and equipped.

Most importantly, spending time with God transforms you. It softens your heart, renews your mind, and aligns your desires with His will. It is in these quiet moments that God prepares you for what He has planned.

“In Your presence is fullness of joy.” — Psalm 16:11

What Does the Bible Say About Spending Time with God?

The Bible consistently emphasizes the importance of seeking God, drawing near to Him, and remaining in His presence. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture shows that God desires a close, personal relationship with His people. Throughout the Psalms, David models what it looks like to seek God daily, pouring out his heart, worshiping, listening, and finding strength in God’s presence.

Jesus Himself demonstrated the priority of spending time with the Father. He often withdrew to quiet places to pray, showing us that intimacy with God is essential for spiritual clarity, strength, and direction.

The Bible teaches that when we seek God, He responds. When we draw near to Him, He draws near to us. When we call, He answers. Scripture also reveals that time with God brings wisdom, peace, and protection. It renews our strength, guides our steps, and fills us with His Spirit.

The Bible invites us to meditate on God’s Word day and night, to pray continually, and to abide in Christ. These practices are not burdens but blessings to deeper faith and spiritual maturity.

Spending time with God is not optional for a believer; it is vital. It is where transformation happens, where truth replaces lies, and where God shapes us into the image of Christ.

“Be still and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

A Prayer for March

Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank You that You desire to spend time with me, Father, I desire to spend more quality time in Your presence as a result, I am becoming more like Jesus. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. Psalm 16:11 Your Word says if I draw near to You, You will draw near to me–and I want to be near to You. So, right now, in the Name of Jesus, I ask that You cause me to desire to draw near to You above everything else. Help me to have supernatural time-management abilities, help me to see clearly when I can set aside time to spend with You, and help me never to compromise that time. Father, You said You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You. I know that to be diligent, I need to pursue You with passion and perseverance. Help me to put Your Word first in every decision I make, to pray continually throughout the day, and to look for opportunities to listen to teachings that will build my knowledge and understanding of who You are and what You want for my life. I thank You that as I do these things, You will guide me into all truth, show me things to come, and anoint the works of my hands. I praise You and thank You for these things. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
