Bible Reading Plan for July
Daily life is full of challenges that test our faith. We all wish we could avoid difficult situations, but that is not always in God’s plan. In fact, it is often during our darkest moments just before the day that we grow the most.
As we enter the month of July, we want to dive deeper into our topic, do not Give Up on God! Even as life draws us in many directions, even when we are too self-centered to really look at Him, God’s eyes are still FIXED on us.
God will NEVER give up on us, and in the spirit of love and reciprocity, we should also resolve in our hearts that we will never give up on Him, too. My prayer is that as you read this bible reading plan, you will find reasons to hold on and not give up on God.
As believers the enemy attack us and want us to think that it’s nothing to our faith walk, so in the face of any faltering or valleys, we immediately check out and see it as some sort of moral failing on our part that means that we aren’t good Christians, or we aren’t serious enough with God.
And that is a feeling the enemy loves to exploit, because that feeling only keeps you further and further away from God, and it keeps you wallowing and isolated.
And the enemy convince us that God has given up on us, or that we are unworthy of finding our way back to God. God will never give up on us. There is a Bible verse I love so much that shows God’s heart towards us as His children. This is Jesus speaking in Hebrews 13:5. Amplified Bible
Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed—be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”
God Will Never Give Up on You, So Don’t Give Up on Him
We all have been in these positions. You are at the end of your rope. Temptations have mounted their attack against you. The Devil is constantly telling you to give up on Jesus. The last straw has broken in a long line of missed opportunities and setbacks. You cannot take another step. You have been talking to God, listening for an answer, wrestling with the truths of scripture against your circumstance. And it hits you… you are ready to give in and give up.
If you have ever heard these kinds of accusations from the devil, then First Peter 5:8 is just for you! It says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
This tells us that we must be on high alert against an enemy who is seeking to gain access to our lives.
“You must be constantly alert and on guard! The devil is the accuser of the brethren, he will try to charge you with all kinds of arguments and accusations. You need to know that he is like a lion on the prowl — constantly walking around, roaring with a deafening sound, earnestly seeking the kind of person he can completely consume and slurp up!”
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 (NLT)
Giving Up on God is Giving Up on The True Essence of Life.
To give up on God is to give up on who you really are in Christ Jesus. Paul states, “In Him, we live, we breathe and have our being” (Acts 17:28). In John 6:53 prior to Jesus’ death and resurrection, crowds would often follow Him because of the miracles He performed. On this occasion, they were hungry, and He multiplied five loaves and two fish to feed them.
He knew their impure motives for following Him and He used the sign to teach them the true essence of communion by stating, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.’”
Jesus is saying there is no life apart from communion with Him. This was hard for many in the crowd to hear and so they began to depart from Him. Peter understanding Jesus’ words responded, “…Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68). This was in response to Jesus asking if the twelve disciples would also depart. Peter knew departing from Jesus is departing from the source of life.
When you are facing trials, it is easy to want to give up. You might think that God has abandoned you or that He’s testing you beyond your limit. But no matter how difficult things get, remember that God is with you always.
So, do not give up on God when it seems too tough to stand when the end is nowhere in sight. God has not and never will give up on you. Jesus fought all the armies of hell for your salvation and satisfied the requirements of sin. He has built you a mansion in glory and is right now praying to the Father for you. He has promised to win every battle he enters with you. Never give up on God because he will never give up on you.
This tells us that we must be on high alert against an enemy who is seeking to gain access to our lives. “You must be constantly alert and on guard! The devil, like an accusing lawyer, will try to charge you with all kinds of arguments and accusations. You need to know that he is like a lion on the prowl — constantly walking around, roaring with a deafening sound, earnestly seeking the kind of person he can completely consume and slurp up!”
God is working. Even when we do not see it. Even when it is dark. Even when the hope appears to have faded. God is always, always, always at work.

Reflection Questions:
Reflecting on our faith and perseverance is essential. Here are five reflection questions to consider when facing challenges and not giving up on God:
- Why does God allow hardship, injustice, and adversity? Even when we do not fully understand the reasons, how can we build a strong faith in God and trust that He walks with us through every difficulty?
- What discourages you from pursuing your God-given dreams? How can you respond to those circumstances with faith?
- Why is it crucial not to give up when life gets tough? Trusting God during adversity helps us learn and grow.
- How does it feel to express your frustrations to a close friend? When questioning God’s actions, do you continue to trust Him, or does it become a struggle? Is there a difference between releasing your feelings to a friend and releasing them to God?
- What long-term gain comes from remaining faithful to God and His Word? Even in suffering, God is still at work.
Remember, whether you are in your darkest hour or facing a small trial, do not give up. By faith, envision the victory God has in store for you and keep Him first in your life.
