January Bible Reading Plan
January is all about Fresh Starts, New Beginnings! Let us take a deeper look into practical steps that can help us embrace new beginnings and actively pursue God’s direction in the coming year. Is not it wonderful to know that God specializes in giving people a fresh start, and new beginning.
As we step into the new year, let us make it a priority to seek God’s plans for our lives. Through prayer and contemplation, we can surrender and align our goals and aspirations with the divine purpose that He has ordained for each of us. Prayer becomes our bridge to God’s wisdom and guidance.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV), the Apostle Paul encourages us, saying, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Through prayer, we open our hearts to receive God’s divine instructions that will set the course for our journey in the new year.
The start of a new year is an ideal moment to reflect on your career journey. It is an opportunity to assess your accomplishments, acknowledge your strengths, and identify areas for improvement. Self-reflection can be the key to unlocking your full potential.
God’s Word assures us that His mercies are new every morning and that He is constantly working to bring about His purpose in our lives.
This month we are going dive into scripture to learn about a fresh Start. God forgives our past sins, mistakes, and failures, and we have a chance to begin again, making a fresh start. No matter what happened last year, good or bad, we can start fresh because Jesus forgave us and has given us a new life.
Let us move forward in faith, Celebrating and embracing a fresh start in the life God has planned for us.
But, that isn’t true, because through Christ, we can have a new beginning and a fresh start; because of God’s extravagant love (1 John 3:1).
How Can We Start Fresh with Christ this year?
Our God is the God of second chances and fresh starts.
Let Go of the Past
First, we need to let go of the past. In Philippians 3:13–14, the Apostle Paul says to forget what is behind and focus on what is ahead. This does not mean we should ignore our past or pretend it did not happen. It means we should give our past to God—our mistakes, our regrets, and our sins.
When we confess our sins and ask for forgiveness, we let go of things that hold us back and receive God’s healing and freedom in that area. The Bible assures us that God’s mercies are new every morning
(Lam. 3:22–23), which means each day can be a new beginning.
Trust God’s Plan
Meditate on Jeremiah 29:11 and Genesis 12:1 to remind yourself that God is guiding your steps into a hopeful future.
We all have or made plans. We spend so much of our time designing our future, making goals we never fulfill, and focusing on fulfilling the ideas that we have for ourselves. But what happens when our plans for ourselves do not align with God’s plans for us?
The Bible directly tells us that no matter what our plans, the Lord’s plan is what will come to fruition. God’s plan triumphs our own, and our life will follow the path that His plan has created. (Whether this aligns with your plans or not!)
In other words, people create many plans for themselves throughout their life. However, these plans will only come to fruition if it is the Lord’s will and if it is part of His plan for you. Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us to put our complete trust in God because his ways and plans are always better than our own and to trust that everything included in His plan is for a greater good.
Isaiah 55:8-9 “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’”
Celebrate Milestones and God’s Faithfulness:
Throughout the year, take moments to celebrate milestones and acknowledge God’s faithfulness. Revisit your journal and reflect on how God has guided and shaped your journey. Celebrating achievements, big or small, reinforces your faith and gratitude.
Remember, each intentional action is a step toward a deeper relationship with Jesus and a fresh start in His divine plan for your life.
Change and Renew Your Mind
This happens when we spend time reading God’s Word. The more we read the Bible, the more we get to know God. We find out Who He is and what He wants for our lives. The Bible is full of truth and wisdom. When that truth and wisdom change the way we think, it can help us make better decisions and live in a way that honors God.
As I enter the new year, I am excited to restart and step into the new year with a grateful heart and a new mindset! I think everyone should give themselves a change in the new year to start fresh and on the right foot. Here are the best ways to start a new year.
Trust that God knows what he is doing.
You often cannot see what God is doing in your life when he is at work behind the scenes. Even if you could see God at work, you would not understand everything he is doing. But you can know that God has your best interests in mind. He is always doing good. You can trust him.
So, where do you begin when God’s vision for your life needs a fresh start? Start with King David’s prayer in Psalm 51:10:“God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life.”
The promise is already available, and it is coming! As we move forward, not just into a new year but into a new fresh season, I pray you will have fresh eyes to see, a new spirit to lean into, and new ears to hear all the incredible things that God is moving you into. This new year is a fresh start, full of new beginnings for you!
Act in faith.
God is not moved by our complaints. He is moved by our faith. Jesus said in Matthew 9:29, “According to your faith let it be done to you” (NIV).
You know you are acting in faith when you are attempting to do something that cannot be done in your own power. Goal setting is a step of faith because you are saying, “God, with your help, I’m expecting to accomplish this task by this date.” God honors faith like that. Most people never set goals, particularly big ones—because they fear failure. So, ask yourself, “What goals will I set for myself in faith this upcoming year?”
Tips for the New Year: How to Get a Fresh Start
Regardless of what a fresh start might look like for you; one thing is certain – it will not happen without a little effort and commitment.
By focusing your energy, defining your goals, and putting plans in place to make them happen, you can realize the change you are hoping to see in your life.
1. Declutter your life.
There is never an inconvenient time to declutter. Decluttering your physical space can help you enter the new year with renewed focus, clarity, and awareness. It can encourage creativity and critical thinking, making it easier to tackle new projects, pick up new hobbies or revisit old ones.
2. Reflect on the progress you made over the last year and the goals you did not achieve.
Looking back on all you have accomplished – and what you did not – is a great first step to take when giving yourself a fresh start.
Not only will this give you some inspiration for what you might want to focus on in the year ahead but understanding how you fell short can help you make the adjustments needed to thrive in the new year.
3. Set your goals and intentions for the year ahead.
Once you have spent some time celebrating your wins and learning from your shortcomings, it is time to identify what you would like to accomplish in the year ahead.
4. Establish a good morning routine in the new year?
Start by spending some time defining what exactly that means to you. What time will you wake up? What do you want to do?
5. Give yourself some grace.
Changing old habits and routines is easier said than done.
While the new year might be a great motivator for making tremendous changes, it is important to recognize that it is hard to change everything overnight.
