When God made you, He went to work, intentionally and delicately crafting your personality, looks, passion Everything about you and me was prepared, planned for ahead of time, that we should walk in them.

Your thumbprint, voice, footprint, heartbeat, and eyes are unique. You are one in a million. God hand crafted, custom-made you. And he wants you to be you.

What Does It Mean to be God’s Masterpiece?

According to Merriam-Webster’s online thesaurus, synonyms of masterpiece are showpiece, blockbuster, success, gem, jewel, prize, treasure, and piece of the master.

A masterpiece is something rare, special, of great value. And the best part is that a masterpiece bears the name of its author or creator. You are God’s masterpiece; you are of great value.

The word workmanship means masterpiece. God’s greatest masterpiece of creation is each of us. We are God’s greatest masterpieces.

That means that as God’s masterpiece, you are His poem (the literal meaning of this Greek word), His sonnet, His artwork. And you carry His name!

In fact, we read in Ephesians 2:10 that “we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them”.

That word workmanship could be translated, “we are His work of art.” We are His poem. Or as another translation puts it, we are God’s masterpiece.

You Are Created in the Image of God

When something is custom-made, it fits uniquely to you. When God made you, He went to work, intentionally and delicately crafting your personality, looks, passions, and skills, allowing your imperfections, and planting your dreams all into one magnificent work of art.

We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared before we were even born.

“God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son . . . We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him.” Romans 8:29 (The Message)

From the very beginning, God’s plan has been to make you like his Son, Jesus. God announced this intention at creation: “Then God said, ‘Let us make human beings in our image and likeness’” (Genesis 1:26 NCV).

He made you unique. No one else in the world is like you. And God does not want you to try to be like someone else. The world want to label you, but the truth is that God doesn’t make mistakes and He created each one of us in His own image.

What does it mean to be made in God’s image?

  • Like God, you are a spiritual being. You are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a body. Your spirit is immortal and will outlast your earthly body.
  • You are intellectual. You can think, reason, and solve problems.
  • You are relational. You can give and receive real love.
  • You have a moral consciousness. You can discern right from wrong, which makes you accountable to God. The Bible says you were “created to be like God—truly righteous and holy” (Ephesians 4:24 NLT).

The Bible says: “God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son . . . We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him” (Romans 8:29 The Message).

You are God’s masterpiece. Before you were born, God planned the good things he wanted you to do with your life. In other words, he gave you a ministry.

The second part of the verse says that God makes you knew in Jesus so you can do what he is planned for you to do. Living for Christ simplifies your life. When you are living as God’s masterpiece, you only need to do what he wants.

I have meet so many people in life that have asked the question, “Why am I here?”  The truth is you were created to be in relationship with God. Only in Christ can you truly find lasting meaning and purpose. Everything else will leave you disappointed and longing for more.

Living to please God might seem difficult, but it is not as hard as you think. When God makes you knew in Christ, he changes you from the inside- out. He changes your desires. Things that used to tempt you just lose their appeal. Jesus sets you free to be yourself.

You Are God’s Masterpiece

What does it mean that we are God’s masterpiece?

There is a unique, custom-designed plan that God has for those who have put their trust in Jesus. God selected you and chose you.

God’s greatest masterpiece of creation is you. And it is me. We are God’s greatest masterpieces.

Nobody is you. Nobody made like you. Nobody looks like you. Nobody thinks like you. Nobody has the talents like you. Nobody has your DNA. You are an original. A masterpiece.

I am God’s masterpiece. How can I be so confident of this? Because He declares in His Word: I am His masterpiece created in Christ Jesus to do the good works which He prepared for me.

Not because of extraordinary skill, intellect, or lack of either. Not because of anything I do or say, in truth the potential of a masterpiece is in the artist. The masterpiece potential in me is a part of who I am, placed within me by God as He knit me together in my mother’s womb.

The sooner you see yourself for who you really are, the sooner you can take your reign as My priceless princess with a purpose – My masterpiece. You were created in My image, and you are indeed a piece of the Master.”

As Jeremiah watched the potter molding and fixing the clay, he noticed something: “Whenever the pot the potter was working on turned out badly, as sometimes happens when you are working with clay, the potter would simply start over and use the same clay to make another pot” (Jeremiah 18:4 The Message).

God does not throw out the personality and the essence of who he created you to be. Instead, he takes every part of you—the good, the bad, and the ugly. He puts it all in his gentle but strong hands.

And then he starts over with shaping your life, applying pressure at just the right places to mold you and remake you into a beautiful, priceless piece of art.

That is what happens when you surrender yourself completely to God’s loving hands.

She can choose to be brave and believe that a uniquely beautiful life is still hers to have. She can boldly grab hold of the hope she has for the girl inside.

So, when you feel tempted to doubt or forget who you are in Christ Jesus, remember.

  1. I belong to God – “For we are God’s.”
  2. I am God’s masterpiece– “For we are God’s masterpiece.”
  3. God created me – “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us…”
  4. God (the Creator of the whole universe) not only created me, BUT it is even better – He created me brand new in Christ Jesus– “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus,”
  5. God created me for a purpose – “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things.”
  6. I am not running my life; God is– “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 NLT

The Bible says Jesus is “the exact likeness of God” (2 Corinthians 4:4 NLT), “the visible image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15 NLT), and “the exact representation of his being” (Hebrews 1:3 NIV).

Did you know that God has already planned out the good works you would do before the foundation of the earth? You are not an afterthought but very much a loved and chosen child of the King who thought of you long before you were born.

“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” (Psalm 139:13–14)

You have a purpose and a calling that only you can fill and, if you do not fill that purpose and calling, there is no one to replace you. The fruit of your calling and purpose is lost for eternity. The idea of knowing that I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

We are so significant to God’s plan and purpose; Paul tells us in Romans 11:29 that the gifts and the calling God has placed on our lives is irrevocable. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it! We are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One.

He works powerfully and creatively in us. He uses us as his canvas. If God considers us his masterpiece, we dare not treat ourselves or others with disrespect or as inferior work.

God Has a Plan for Your Life

God has His plan for every believer, even before they are born, not to mention afterward. That means God has a plan for your life, even before you were born. He knew exactly what trials and tribulations you were going to face. He knew what happy and joyous things were going to happen.

God had it already planned out before it began. All the days ordained for you were written in your book before one of them came to be.(Psalm 139:16) I find great comfort and security in knowing that God has my life planned out exactly how he wants it.

According to Ephesians 1:11, “God works all things after the counsel of his will.” This means that your life, all of it, has been worked out according to the counsel of God’s will.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born, I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

Here are some things to remember as God perfects His handiwork in you:

  • A masterpiece takes a long time to create. You will be surprised at the new perfection that you will see in the future. You will be surprised at how over time you become more and more like Jesus. That happens when you spend time together with Him!
  • A masterpiece is very detailed and intricate. Tiny transformations are not always easy to see, but changes are still being made. It takes patience to see them. (I know it! I have been there and am still there!)
  • A masterpiece is one-of-a-kind. You are unique. There is no one else like you!
  • Write this verse on your heart, it will encourage you. Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

God Calls You Royalty

The bible says, “you are a royal priesthood. That means you are royal. Have you ever been told that you are a royal priesthood?

But what does it mean to be a royal priesthood?

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (ESV)

Every believer has been born into royalty the moment they received Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Through the Blood of Jesus and what it has done, royal blood now flows through your veins. Where does this leave you? A royal child of God, a prince or princess, with a crown of righteousness glittering in your future! (2 Timothy 4:8)

According to what he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Having predestined us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace wherein he had made us accepted in the beloved. (Ephesians 1:3-6)

As you go about your purpose, God has equipped you with the resources you need to get the job done. God has chosen you to be royalty. You may not have been born on this earth as royalty but because you belong to our heavenly Father, you are the daughter of the King! You are God’s special possession and of great worth. Praise God for choosing to have a special relationship with you.

How Do I Become God’s Masterpiece?

We become His Masterpiece when He creates us new in Christ Jesus. So, the moment you accept Jesus into your heart, you become God’s Masterpiece. Once you make Jesus your Savior and Lord, you are no longer who you used to be. God has a plan for your life, and it begins with a personal relationship with Jesus. The most important decision you can ever make is whether you will accept His invitation. If you have never made that decision, these four simple truths can help you start your journey together with Him.

You can start your journey with Jesus by believing in him and confessing your sins. If you’re ready to surrender your life to Jesus Christ, start by praying this simple prayer: “Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is your Son. I believe that he died for my sin and that you raised him to life. I want to trust him as my Savior and follow him as Lord from this day forward. Guide my life, and help me to do your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

When you receive Jesus into your heart, the Bible says you become a “new creation” and you have a new identity in Christ. You receive a spiritual inheritance as God’s adopted sons or daughters, and you are fully loved and accepted by God. There is nothing you can do to earn this. It’s solely by His grace that you are saved.

We must live life in such a way that His glory always shows forth in us.  We must live a fruitful life of the Spirit.  Our lives before Christ is likened to darkness.  I become a masterpiece because I now live a life of light in Christ.  The old has gone away and the new is here. To remain a masterpiece, I must continue to live a life of light in Christ.

We are God’s Masterpieces. We are meant to be what others look at in order to see the goodness of God. But are we doing everything we can to make sure this comes to fruition? Such as:

  • Fellowshipping with others. Letting others know that they are loved beyond measure.
  • By Praying that you be the person God has called and created you to be.
  • To walk in love with God and with others daily.
  • Doing the work God called you too.
  • Being attentive to where God is working in the world and joining Him there

We were created to be God’s masterpieces but that doesn’t mean we always look the part. We have work to do. And it can be done. We all know people who are the very definition of a Godly masterpiece. They didn’t do that alone. They didn’t become that by doing nothing.

Think about the time when you truly did something God was calling you to do. Dust it off. And reshape it to do again

As Royalty You Have Access

As royalty, you have access to His throne. His throne is a seat of sovereign rule, power, and authority. It is also a place of praise and grace. The Bible says you have access to God’s throne because of Jesus. The veil that separated the Holy of Holies from the rest of the temple was torn in two at Jesus’ death (Matthew 27:50-51, Hebrews 9:1-9).

Jesus made a way for you to have direct access to God. As royalty, you can approach Him in your time of need, make your requests known, and praise Him for what He is doing in and through you.

  • “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”—Hebrews 10:19-23
  • “Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split…”—Matthew 27:51
  • “… in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.”—Ephesians 3:12
  • “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”—Philippians 4:19

As far as God is concerned, here are just a few of the blessings that come with God’s masterpiece! You are:

  • Born of imperishable seed.
  • The apple of the His eye
  • Beautifully redeemed and completely forgiven.
  • Righteous, holy, and blameless
  • Blessed beyond measure.
  • Hidden in Christ and eternally secure.
  • Victorious and more than a conqueror
  • The sweet smell of Jesus to those who are perishing.
  • Royalty- a beloved daughter of the King

From the moment you chose Him as your Savior, you were made part of an exclusive club – one of royalty whose identity and status will never change.

You Are God’s Workmanship

God grows us through the storms that we go through. We need to lean on Him and trust Him at all times.

Prayerfully spend time with God reading your Bible and asking Him to refine your heart and grow your faith. Ask God to reveal to you the work that He has planned for you to do.

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6)

We are one-of-a-kind masterpieces on special assignments that reflect our specific gifts, talents, and skills. We are God’s workers. Every believer has a spiritual gift with which they are to serve. The Holy Spirit directs and empowers us as we use our gifts. God designed it that way so that we can shine in a unique and authentic manner as we serve Him and meet one another’s needs.

Have you ever thought about what a portrait of you would reveal? That is, if some very honest and capable artist painted your portrait, what would other people see? Would they see strength, courage, love, kindness or would they see fear, doubt, uncertainty, anger, bitterness?

What would they see? When you look in the mirror, what do you see? What do you think God sees when He looks at you? Well, it will be very difficult for you to believe what I am about to tell you, because we see ourselves in a certain way. In fact, we see ourselves the way we see us, then there are ways that other people see us, then there is the way we really are and that is the way God sees us.

What does God see when He looks at your life? When God looks at you, He not only sees you as you are, but He sees beyond that and He sees you for what you can be, what you will be, what He has predestined you to be. When he sees you, he sees Jesus.

So therefore, what He sees is a person of value, a person of worth and a person of great promise. And yet, oftentimes we do not see that. And so, we live chained to our old self, what we were before we became a child of God.

Those old thoughts, those old ideas about ourselves, those ideas that are no longer true of us; we still think the same way. And therefore, if we live our lives that way, here is what will happen.

You will live your whole life on a level far below that which God has provided for you. Or the way God sees you. God wants you to be free from that. He wants you to understand who you are from His viewpoint.

And to live an extraordinary life, a life above the average, not the normal Christian life as people compare it, but He wants you to see yourself the way He sees you. And once you get a glimpse of that, you will never be the same again.

If you will see yourself as the masterpiece God created you to be, then you will go through life confident, strong, and secure. Your gifts and talents will come out to the full. The right people will be drawn to you, and I believe and declare you will overcome every obstacle, defeat every enemy. You will become everything God’s created you to be, in Jesus’ name.

Thank You for calling me out of the darkness and into Your wonderful light. Because of Your great love, You have chosen me to be called a child of God, a daughter of the King. Lord, I praise Your great and wonderful name! I pray, Father God, that You will show me what You have for me from this day forward. I am Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which You prepared beforehand that I should walk in them. I submit to Your guidance today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
