It is All in the Plan
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. – Jeremiah 29:11
I love the how the KJV translates the end of the verse: “‘…to give you an expected end.’” God knows our expected end. He knows the result of the things; He allows to touch our lives or that He sovereignly sends.
What “expected end” does God want for us? Jeremiah 29:12-13 says, “Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”
God has a plan for your life. He has a purpose and a destiny plan for you. God knows what He is doing concerning you. He has planned everything from the beginning to the end of your life. Yes, of course, God knows the plans He has for you. And ultimately, He will give you a glorious future. But as we walk out our lives on this crazy earth, let us remember that the best growth comes through persevering through trials, not escaping them entirely. And when we learn perseverance, we find surprising joy.
What trial, test, are pitfalls are you currently going through? In the midst of your suffering, cling to this verse Jeremiah 29:11, but cling to it for the right reason: not in the false hope that God will take away your suffering, but in the true, gospel confidence that he will give you hope in the midst of it.
Everything and everyone in life has an end, but there is an end that God desired for His children and that is what He called the expected end in Jeremiah 29:11. The expectation of God for your life is according to the end that He has ordained for you.
For Jeremiah the prophet, the destination, the end that God set for him was to be a prophet to the nations. In the same way, there is an end that God has set for you in life and all His thoughts and expectations concerning your life are towards making that end come to pass. Understand that the expectation of God over the life of a person which is born out of divine destiny is what informs the thoughts of God concerning him.
Your life may not look like it is going towards the God-desired end, but He is constantly thinking about it for you. Do you know that when God looks at your life, the thought that occupies His mind towards you is, “What I have to do next to make sure that what I intended come to pass, not what the devil intended or what men intended?”
What constantly occupies God’s mind concerning you is how to bring into manifestation, the end that He intends for your life. You will be defeated in life if you lose sight of the fact that God has some thoughts concerning you. Your life and existence are a manifestation of the thoughts of God. You are not a mistake on the earth. Your birth was not an accident; it was a manifestation of divine thinking. God thought about you in eternity. One can say you are God’s idea original and not your parents’ idea. It therefore means that your very life on the earth should be a construction of the thoughts of God.
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” – Proverbs 19:21
He knows every hiccup, even before you hiccup. He knows how to turn your morning into dancing. He knows how to brighten your day. He knows how to take care of what belongs to him. He knows how to detour you around every trap, every roadblock. He has already gone before you. Do not worry he knows what He is doing. Everything in your life, everything he has spoken into your for, every ideal, God has an expected end.
