December Bible Reading Plan 2024
Welcome December!
Welcome to this month’s Bible Reading Plan – Jesus Best Gift Ever!
Ready or not, the holidays are upon us. The leaves have changed and are falling. I have exchanged my summer wardrobe for sweaters, jeans, and boots, and I am already working on my holiday gift list. What about you?
I love the Christmas season, because this is the season for giving gifts. And it is no wonder that we give gifts to loved ones at this time, since Christmas is really the celebration of God’s Gift to those He loves—His perfect Gift of Jesus to you and me!

Christmas is not just a day; it is a season that brings out the best in all of us. This month we are going to dive deep and look at the topic of Jesus Best Gift Ever!
Jesus is the best Gift! Even though we do not deserve and could never earn this Gift, God freely gave Jesus to all who will receive Him. God’s love for us in Christ never fades, diminishes, or weakens. God’s love for us remains consistent and continually available.
“Jesus answered and said to her, ‘If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, “Give Me a drink,” you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water’” John 4:10 NASB.
What Is the Greatest Gift We Can Give to Jesus?
What can we give the One who already has it all? What could we give the One who already owns it all? What could we give to God that He really needs?
“What is there that God wants from me?” is a better question. The answer is simple. It is you He wants. It is me He wants. It is us that God wants. When He truly has us, everything else in our lives should follow accordingly.
We should give to Jesus these things that none other can give to Him for us.
1. Our Time (The time, days, months, years, life, breath that God gives us on earth. It is a gift from Him to us. It all belongs to Him)
2. Our Talents (All our gifts, abilities and talents come from God and should be used for His glory in the earth. We should make our world, people, our home, our marriage, our children, our class, our job, our church, and suchlike better. Our talents should be used for good and for God. He is the One who gave them to use to begin with. They all belong to God)
3. Our Treasures (All our treasures belong to God. All our life, breath, families, futures, finances, and every day belongs to God. We are stewards of these beautiful things. We should handle them all for God’s glory. Apostolic truth and doctrine are treasured.
True Biblical Christianity is Treasure. We must cherish these with our hearts and lives. We must hand them down to our children. We must allow God’s hands to direct the lives of our treasures-our children)
4. Commit to daily Bible reading. When we read the Bible, we are taking part in a conversation with God. That is truly remarkable that He would care enough to give us His very words for us to read, study, and soak in. What better gift to give our relational God than to spend time in conversation with Him?
5. Commit to daily praying. When we pray, we are, again, taking part in a conversation with God. While Bible reading is God speaking to us, praying is us speaking to God. Our God desires to hear us speak to Him. He wants a real relationship with you and prayer is vital to that relationship.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (NIV). John 3:16
God gave us the perfect Gift when He gave us Jesus!
“Therefore, if God gave to them same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God’s way?” (Acts 11:17 NASB).
“And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh” Matt. 2:11
Who is Jesus and Who are We in Christ?
So, who is Jesus? Some say He was a prophet, a good teacher a good person. Some say He was only an idea (Unfortunately for them, there is overwhelming evidence that He did exist).
But He is much more than that. For me, He is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. He is the One who changed my life, who saved me, forgave me and overcame death so that I would have eternal life. And He is so much more.
Jesus asked His disciples who they thought He was. Simon Peter had the right answer.
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:15-18
Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”
Peter was right. Jesus is the Son of God. He is everlasting, He was there during creation, he revealed Himself to many before and after His life on earth. He is now at the right hand of God the Father.
Knowing who we are and knowing our identity in Christ, knowing these truths should cause us to rejoice no matter what the circumstances of the holiday may hold.
That is what Christmas is all about. We celebrate the birth of Jesus (though it may have actually been some time in the fall, not December 25) on this day, not for the opening of presents or gathering of families or the feast or any of that, though that is all great, too, but that Jesus came to this earth to save us from our sins, from eternal damnation, to give us eternal life! Romans 5:6-11
The expectations of a perfect holiday can be overwhelming to fulfill. No Christmas will ever be perfect. Until Jesus returns.
Let us give thanks to our Lord and Savior for His incomprehensible gift of redemption. We can honor Him throughout the year by loving each other, reaching out to the poor in spirit in His name, and remembering His death.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:16-17
I pray your family has a Blessed Christmas celebration – May His presence be felt in your home!

A Prayer for December
As December unfolds, we turn our hearts to the miracle of Christmas. This month, we celebrate the birth of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who came to bring light into our darkness. Thank You for the indescribable gift of Your love and salvation, wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. Help us to focus on the true meaning of this season amidst the hustle and bustle. May we find joy in the simple moments, cherish our loved ones, and reflect Your love to those around us. Guide our hearts to be filled with gratitude, peace, and the wonder of the Christmas story. Lord, let this December be a time of renewal and hope as we remember that Jesus is the greatest gift ever given. Draw us closer to You and fill our hearts with the joy that only You can provide. In Jesus’ name, Amen
Merry Christmas!
