August Bible Reading Plan 2024

Welcome to the month of August!

As Christians, our relationship with the Lord is dependent on our faith since it is what pleases Him. Having faith in God, even though sometimes we struggle with it, can sometimes be very hard to do. Faith is what brings the things God has provided for us from the spiritual realm into the physical realm (Heb. 11:1).

Our faith is the victory that enables us to overcome the world (1 John 5:4). Everything the Lord does for us is accessed through faith. That is why the Bible tells us, without faith it is impossible to please God.

This month, we are going to do a deep study into scripture to see why “having faith in God is so important.”

A Prayer for August

Father, in the Name of Jesus, thank you for the privilege of knowing you. It is because of who you are, I give you glory. May this month bring us all the Joy and the blessings you have for us. And I know that by having faith in God is so important in my life. Thank you for teaching me to walk in this faith. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.

What Does It Mean Having Faith in God?

When Jesus says, “Have faith in God,” he really wants us to grow in faith by depending on God alone. Sometimes we feel powerless, especially when we face challenging issues, both within ourselves and without.

Faith is written all over the Bible, but how do we apply it to our daily lives? Having faith in God can mean a lot of things. It means being able to trust that God has your life in good hands, finding strength in God, and knowing that we have stability in Him. Faith moves mountains and stops storms.

Do you remember how you felt when you were very young and were anticipating your birthday? You were excited and anxious. You knew you would certainly receive gifts and other special treats. but some things would be a surprise. birthdays combine assurance and anticipation, and so does faith. Faith is the confidence based on past experience that God’s new and fresh surprises will surely be ours.

Faith starts with believing in god’s goodness and truth that he is who he says he is. Faith culminates with knowing that God will do what he promises. when we believe that he will fulfil his promises even though we do not see them materializing yet, we demonstrate true faith. (John 20:24-31).

Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. 23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. 24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you have received it, it will be yours. Mark 11:22-24 (New Living Translation)

It would seem impossible to move a mountain into the sea, so Jesus used this illustration to show that God can do what we consider impossible.

So, if you want to have faith, you must hear (or read) God’s promises. Faith does not come by praying for it, fasting for it, or having someone lay hands on you to bestow it. It only comes from hearing God’s Word. And once you hear it, you still must make a decision to believe it.

Faith Allows Us to Trust God

When we are operating in faith, it allows us to put our trust in the Lord. When we trust in HIm, it allows us to have a deeper and more personal relationship with God.

Proverbs 3: 5-6 (NASB) says to trust in him and not our own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

God does not want you to have just any faith. He wants you to have a strong and vigorous faith—not a wimpy faith that collapses when things get tough.

The Bible says in Colossians 2:7, “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness” (NLT).

When we trust in Him, we can know for certain that He is leading our lives in the ways He wants us to go. We know we can trust Him because He has shown us how too.

Put Your Faith in Jesus Christ

Putting your faith in Jesus Christ will bring you closer to Him by allowing you to trust His plans for your life, give you strength of mind, and bring stability to your life. Trust God will take time and harder for some than others, but faith will give you peace in your life.

“Abraham was almost a hundred years old, much past the age for having children, and Sarah could not have children. Abraham thought about all this, but his faith in God did not become weak.” Romans 4:19 (NCV)

Abraham was 99 years old; his wife was eighty-nine. It was medically impossible for them to have children. He did not deny the facts. He faced them with faith.

If your faith is weak, you are not in the Bible very often. But the more you are in God’s book, the more it will feed your soul. God’s Word is soul food, and spending time in it is the easiest way to grow your faith.

When we have faith in God, God empowers us to overcome any kind of challenges, obstacles, or problems both within and without. As we go about our everyday lives, lets remember what our forefather Abraham did. Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.

Let’s Start Relying on God

Faith is relying totally on the promises of Jesus Christ. That’s a simple definition. And faith precedes understanding, pleases God, and involves reward.

What might God do through us if we more fully relied on his Son, Jesus? What would God do through you this week, just step out in faith. Let’s take those bold steps.

Let’s rely on Jesus, for whatever he is calling us to do today. Let’s draw near to him and please him by faith.

Reflection Questions:

Reflecting on our faith in God is both soul-nourishing and transformative. Here are five questions to ponder:

  1. When have you experienced God’s faithfulness firsthand? Recall moments when His provision, guidance, or unexpected blessings affirmed your trust in Him.
  2. What doubts or uncertainties challenge your faith? Acknowledge them—faith isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about leaning and trusting God despite our questions.
  3. How does your faith impact your daily decisions? Consider whether your choices align with your belief in God’s goodness and sovereignty.
  4. Have you ever felt like the father in Mark 9:24? He cried out, “I believe; help my unbelief!” How can you invite God to strengthen your faith?
  5. What promises from Scripture sustain you during difficult seasons? Explore verses like Isaiah 41:10 and Romans 8:28 and let them anchor your trust.

Remember, faith isn’t about having it all figured out; it’s about walking with the One who holds the universe together Remember know matter what difficult times you face, Jesus is Lord.

It’s about making choices that reflect our faith, even when it’s hard.
