Hi, I’m Joyce, the face and author behind A Women After God’s Own Heart. I’m so glad you found your way here!

A Women After God’s Own Heart is a Christian blog devoted to sharing the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  I’m passionate about encouraging you to grow in your faith & understand who you are in Christ Jesus because honestly – you’re a masterpiece. 

If you are struggling with identity, fear, loneliness, or even spiritual warfare and how to recognize an attack from the enemy and what to do about it, you’re at the right place.

Many years ago, when I really realized who Jesus was to me, and He lives in me, made a mark in my heart that cannot be erased. At that same time, I experienced that love that Jesus has for me in a real & tangible way, and it was through that love that Jesus began to use me for His glory.

Now, that’s my journey, helping other women understand their identity in Christ is something I am very passionate about.

Our Mission here at A Women After God’s Own Heart is to give you resources, love, and encouragement to help you do just that.

We are here for you to help and to walk this journey with you, encouraging you, and to help you cultivate a deeper more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and equip you to step into your God-given calling.

“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the product of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.” (Proverbs 31:30,31)

What sets “A Women After God’s Own Heart” apart from any other woman boils down to her fear of God. Her reverence for God determines her actions, thoughts, words, and priorities. Without that, the demands and pull of life that come as a natural course of being a woman would be too many to juggle well.

When I started this blog ministry, I had no idea the impact it would have on my life, faith, and the incredible opportunities it would open for me to share the gospel online, spreading the hope found through having a personal relationship with Jesus and understanding the truth found in His Word.

Let’s start with this question. “What is God looking for when he looks for a woman after His heart”? I believe when God is looking for a woman after His heart, he is searching for a woman like you and me, mere women who love Him. But He is also looking for women who share the same qualities He found in David.

 That is an amazing story how God found David and anointed him king even before he walked in the position. God is looking for women “After His Own Heart” (1 Samuel 13:14). Just like God anointed David king before he walked in the position, He has commissioned us to bring good news to the humble, the hurting, the brokenhearted. He has also made us a light for the world, for the Gentiles; that we may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.

God is looking for a woman who chooses His ways at every opportunity. When you do wrong, you admit it and come to terms with it. You long to please Him in your actions. You care deeply about the motivations behind your actions. God is not looking for the perfect women, He is looking for you. He is looking for deeply spiritual, genuinely humble, honest-to-the-core servants who have integrity. Meaning “what do you do behind closed doors”?

He is looking for a woman with integrity- complete, whole, innocent, having simplicity of life, wholesome, sound, unimpaired. It is what you are made of. It is what you do when no one is looking. God always focuses on the inward qualities, like the character of the heart . . . those things that take time and discipline to cultivate. Think again of women like Tamar, Ruth, Rahab — not very “churchy” women, but women held in high esteem in the Bible.

It takes daily surrender and making God’s Word your highest priority. You are a diamond in the rough. And you gain the power of character and begin to reflect your Heavenly Father’s face more clearly as His Word smooths and polishes your character. 

As you spend time gazing into God’s Word, the light of His truth brightens your motivation to live your life for His glory. God uses His Word to transform you into a woman of divine power who reflects His beauty. This is what makes a woman beautiful in God’s eyes; the woman in you.

We are here to help women like you learn how to pursue the heart of God by studying his word, spending time in prayer, and committing to a daily walk with the Lord. My whole purpose here is to be a constant reminder that you matter. What you do matters. What you say matters. Who you are matters? You are seen, known, and loved by God! He loves you more than you could ever comprehend, and I am here to make sure you know that.

My prayer is to always point you back to Jesus through every article, Bible study, devotional, social media content, and newsletter.

I consider it a privilege and an honor to share the Gospel through my writing, continuously seeking His guidance and the guidance of the Holy Spirit with every word. I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.


And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
(Ephesians 3: 17-19)

About Me

I am glad you are here! I am Joyce Pero.  The founder of ” A Women After God’s Own Heart”.  I am passionate about helping women like you learn how to pursue the heart of God by studying his word, spending time in prayer, and committing to a daily walk with the Lord, the love, grace, and dedication we pursue in this journey together.

I am a born-again, Spirit filled believer, who has a love, and heart for Jesus. I am, a wife, mom, grandmother, an ordained minister, a Certified Pastoral Counselor, and a lover of His Word.

Our whole purpose here is to be a servant for Jesus. A constant reminder that you matter. What you do matters.  Your story matters. What you say matters. Who you are matters? You are seen, known, and loved by God! He loves you more than you could ever comprehend, and I am here to make sure you know that.
